North India Himalayan Foothills Birding Tour – Corbett, Manila & Chopta Highlands

This journey blends the rich birdlife of the Himalayan foothills with the thrill of exploring India’s oldest national park, charming mid-altitude forests, and alpine meadows that host some of the most dazzling pheasants and finches of the Himalayas.

Delhi is your gateway city – bustling and vibrant, but also surrounded by excellent birding sites like Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary, a Ramsar wetland home to both resident and migratory waterbirds.
Corbett National Park – is not only India’s first tiger reserve but also a treasure trove of forest and riverine birdlife, from kingfishers to hornbills, with the chance to encounter big mammals.
Manila – is a peaceful hill station with quiet oak and pine forests, where pheasants and mid-altitude specialties thrive.
Chopta–Mandal sits higher in the Himalayas, with alpine meadows and rhododendron forests. Known as the “Mini Switzerland of India,” this is where birders seek the dazzling Himalayan Monal, along with a wealth of high-altitude species.
Rishikesh –  set on the banks of the sacred Ganges, offers both cultural immersion and rewarding riverine birding.
Finally, Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary, just outside Delhi, provides the perfect finale with its diverse wetlands and grasslands.
From the foothills to alpine ridges, this trip is a story of colors, calls, and unforgettable encounters with the birdlife of North India.
